Diedra Barber, Founder of Filament Consulting Group

My professional background is in education equity, training design and facilitation, program management, operations and business development, organizational behavior and change management. I attended and completed multiple higher education college/university programs. For most of my life I have been extremely mind/intellect and body/physically driven.

My personal background is in engaging daily the ever present work of transmuting white supremacy and patriarchy™ in how I think, move, interact and believe.
I have found doing this work is like detoxing from an extremely lethal and addictive drug while breathing, eating and living in that same drug.
In this intentional engaging of my own process of cultivating intersectional leadership, my work with the external world has evolved around designing and facilitating human communication sessions. For me, transmuting white supremacy and patriarchy is at the core of this work and intertwined in it, as opposed to separated or adjacent .

I think of this work as helping myself and others be more human and to remember and engage our humanity. It is a way of engaging the world with a focused intention on doing less harm to myself and to others (human, animal and planet). This has entailed much more work on myself than trying to change other people. It has meant learning to employ compassion and grace when working interpersonally even when the white supremacy and patriarchy in me fights it.
